Q1. How did you leverage your background in Chemical Engineering in your research at Reso?
I personally believe that engineering, in general, shapes the mindset systematically, so it allows you to develop a methodical problem-solving approach that is applicable to various disciplines. And in a dynamic work environment like Reso, where every day I was working on a new project in a different field, this was an essential skill. When I was working on tasks in sectors that were new to me, my background in chemical engineering pushed me to be more thorough, or scientific, in data assessment and verification. I would need to filter out inaccurate information, understand the subject comprehensively, and balance out my personal curiosity.
Q2. How did the research skills you developed in Reso assist you in your current research role at Derasat?
I currently work as a research analyst specializing in energy and environment at Derasat, and I can confidently say that the various skills I gained at Reso provided me with a strong foundation that supports my current research activities and contributions. During my time in Reso, I learned how important it is to take a structured approach to research. I was trained in designing solid methodologies and rigorously analyzing data, which has given me the skills to work with both quantitative and qualitative data. This versatility helps me adapt to various research projects and deliver strong, reliable analyses.
Reso also taught me the value of clear and concise report writing, which has been crucial in my role at Derasat where I often need to present findings to stakeholders who depend on straightforward and actionable insights. This also includes effectively communicating research findings through presentations, and I truly acknowledge how the experience I gained in Reso helps me transform complex information to fathomable insights.
Q3. Can you share a project you worked on at Reso that you are particularly proud of?
This is a tough question to answer, because I vividly remember almost every project I worked on over the span of around two years, and I am emotionally attached to quite a few of them. However, it was always thrilling to see research projects that we worked on for months get implemented as national initiatives and strategies. And as much as I loved working on projects in energy or environment, one of my favorite projects was in a completely different field. It was an intense planning effort to lay out the most effective crowd management strategies in one of the busiest places globally. There were multiple dimensions attached to this, including social, economic, health, and safety considerations, which made this quite an entangled web of challenges. Being in a team with different backgrounds was definitely helpful in tackling this, and the wealth of information I gained through this project is indispensable.
Q4. What was the most challenging aspect of your work at Reso, and how did you overcome it?
Personally, one of the most challenging aspects of working in Reso was finding the right work-life balance. The demands of the job require effective time management and a focused mindset, which sometimes made it difficult to balance priorities. I tried to implement a few strategies to overcome this challenge, like prioritizing tasks and maximizing productivity during work hours. Focusing on my wellness journey was also key in overcoming this challenge. I made a conscious effort to incorporate regular exercise and mindfulness practices into my routine, which helped me manage stress and stay energized.
Q5. What are your fondest memories from your time at Reso?
My favorite memories in Reso all revolve around the dynamic and brilliant teams that I worked with. We’ve developed strong intellectual bonds in a short time, despite varying backgrounds, nationalities, and opinions. I truly cherish the moments we’ve engaged with one another, whether in brainstorming, team-building, or debating on an intense project we’re working on. The diverse projects were also a highlight of my experience at Reso. Each project brought new challenges and learning experiences, making the work engaging and fulfilling. It exposed me to key stakeholders across several high-profile organizations, which allowed me to develop skills beyond my expectations as an entry-level analyst. The supportive culture and the sense of shared purpose at Reso made my time there both enjoyable and memorable.
