Under the patronage of University President Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al Mudhahki, the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain launched a new award program, the Scientific Research Award. This initiative aims to boost research at the college by encouraging both the number and quality of projects undertaken by faculty. It is anticipated that this program will also enhance teaching standards over time.

The event, which celebrated the winners of the Scientific Publication Awards, drew a distinguished assembly and was jointly organized and supported by Gulf Researcher. Among the key attendees were Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Dean of the College of Engineering and Mahmood AlSaleh, Managing Director of Gulf Researcher.

Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa highlighted the college’s significant research accomplishments. She remarked, “Since September 2020, the university has published over 760 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. The College of Engineering alone has contributed more than 120 papers, ranking third among the university’s colleges.” This statement underscores the college’s strong research trajectory.

Expanding on the university’s research efforts, Mahmood AlSaleh, Managing Director of Gulf Researcher, praised the institution for its pivotal role in nurturing top-tier graduates. He noted that nearly 20% of Gulf Researcher’s workforce consists of College of Engineering alumni. He emphasized the critical importance of research, stating, “The research efforts of the university’s professors are instrumental in advancing national strategies across various sectors.” He also advocated for unified endeavors from both public and private sectors to tackle community challenges with scientifically grounded, pragmatic solutions.
